The biggest issue I had was the gearbox main seal leaking gearbox oil at 300,000km. I had a quote to replace which was Au$3000, so I purchased a seal from ebay for 150 bucks and pulled the gearbox out myself, big job! but still going strong 100,000km on.
First thing to do is get the gearchange cables checked and adjusted. Gearboxes on these are usually extremely durable, cable problems can lead to jumping out of gear occasionally. Hi There 2003 Mondeo - ST220 - 3.0L V6 Petrol - 108,000 Miles New clutch kit including concentric slave cylinder & DMF fitted at 90,000 miles car now has 108,000 on it Issue is hard to select reverse & 1st gears - Have to turn off engine select reverse or 1st then start up and then drive
once the car is up to temp its fine. although twice reverse has been iffy when warm. If i try and select a gear with the engine off its fine but start the engine and the problem begins. I have tried changing gear oil. no change. Tried lubrication gear linkages. no change. Is this going to be clutch, dmf.
